“It’s technical. It’s one of our little toys.”
-Dr. Peter Venkman
There are several key pieces of equipment that we use in the world of paranormal investigation and elimination. You’ll find most of our “little toys” right here.
The Proton Pack
The Proton Pack, designed by Dr. Egon Spengler, is a man-portable particle accelerator system that is used to create a charged particle beam – composed of protons – that is fired by the proton gun (also referred to as the “neutrona wand”. Described as a “positron collider”, it functions by colliding high-energy positrons to generate its proton beam. The beam allows a ghostbuster to contain and hold negatively charged ectoplasmic entities. This containment ability allows the wielder to position a ghost above a trap for capture.
The Trap is a sealed container that allowed the Ghostbusters to transport the spirits to the Containment Unit, where they would be released into the grid.
The full name of the device is a Psychokinetic Energy Meter, so named because its function is to detect the amounts of said energy and to direct the user to its location. The design of the device is a small screen, mounted on a handle, which has a pair of sensor ‘wings’ protruding from either side. These wings have lights along their length, and will flash and extend as the meter closes in on the source of a P.K.E. signature. Much like a metaphysical Dowsing Rod, the meter will begin to buzz more and more in response to approaching a source of P.K. Energy. Once at the source of the energy, the wings will extend to their fullest length and the meter will buzz noticeably at a higher pitch.
The slime blower is a Ghostbusting tool created in 1989 by Dr. Egon Spengler. The slime blower is used to spray positively charged “mood slime”. They were successfully tested an played a key role in the defeat of Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf.
